Negotiation 101
Learn some of the basics to improving your capacity for effective negotiation
Working effectively in the community sector requires developing effective negotiating skills. This course introduces you to some of the basic ideas of negotiation and how to use them with other workers and/or clients to improve outcomes. Negotiation 101 is a practical, engaging course designed specifically for people working in mission-driven organisations who want to improve their ability to ethically negotiate for better outcomes.
This course will introduce you to the concepts of Fisher and Ury described in Getting to Yes that help you:
Separate the people from the problem
Focus on interests, not positions
Invent options for mutual gain
Insist on using objective criteria
Know your BATNA (Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement)
Whether you’re in a leadership role, working on the frontlines, or supporting behind the scenes, this course offers tools and insights to help you improve in your ability to negotiate.
This workshop will be delivered by Linda or Peter Watson who both bring over 20 years of experience in delivering learning experiences.
